Trump again claims Canada is cheating American farmers with tariffs on dairy products


President Donald Trump continued tonight to claim that Canada is cheating American farmers with tariffs on dairy products. While Trump stopped short of announcing new tariffs, which he threatened earlier in the Oval Office, he gave another warning to America’s neighbor to the North: “Enjoy it while you can!”

Trump cited Canada’s roughly 250% tariff on US dairy exports to the country, like milk, butter and cheese.

“These sky high Tariffs are part of Canada’s unfair, long-standing policy to shield domestic producers from foreign competition, especially in Agriculture. Our Great U.S. Dairy Farmers deserve fair treatment from Canada. Enjoy it while you can!” Trump continued.

Earlier Friday, Trump said new tariffs on Canadian lumber and dairy products may take effect as soon as today.
